As I’m sitting at my desk, my fingertips quickly grazing the tops of my keyboard, I can’t help but reflect on what a surreal experience this is. I’ve been [loosely] talking about starting a blog for more than a year now but have found every excuse in the book not to. I’d continuously tell myself that I was a lousy writer, I’d have nothing to write about, no one would read my blog, it’d require too much effort to maintain – the list goes on and on. But after finding inspiration from a few close friends who are absolutely killing the blogging game and pledging to myself that 2016 is the year I stop talking about doing things and actually start doing things, I’ve decided to take a leap of faith and publish what you see in front of you – Simply Al.
It’s been a culmination of new & differing experiences that have led me up to this point, which you’ll surely hear about in my posts. I have gained so much insight into myself this past year and have met countless wonderful and passionate people who have helped pave the way for everything that you’re about to read. I feel invigorated and inspired to share my wants, desires, values, hobbies and struggles with you. In return, I hope that you’ll share a small piece of yourself with me. I welcome your comments and emails with open arms!
You’ll quickly come to realize that I am a nutrition and fitness junkie, overindulgent-turned-minimalist 24-year-old Seattelite who is attempting to gracefully adult (aka navigate this crazy, complex world). In addition to sharing some valuable advice I’ve learned in my 24 years of existence, you’ll find lots of healthy and SIMPLE recipes that I’ve created in my kitchen, easy ways to incorporate a plant-based diet into your life, tips on maximizing city-living on a small salary and creative ways to live minimally yet intentionally.
My hope for this blog is that you walk away feeling empowered to make a change that will lead you on a path towards a more healthy, happy, positive, simple, fulfilling life. A wise young man once told me: “Everyday you make a choice to live your life the way you want it lived.” So take risks, step outside of your comfort zone, do one thing a day that scares you but most of all, be grateful for this crazy and awesome life you have been given.
I have so much in store for you and cannot wait to get started. So without further adieu, welcome to Simply Al. I’m elated you’re here!
